Alaska: ITIN Driver's License Guide
Requirements
- • Proof of lawful presence in the United States (ITIN alone is not sufficient)
- • Social Security Number or SSA ineligibility letter
- • Proof of Alaska residency
- • Proof of identity and date of birth
Required Documents
- Valid passport with US visa or I-94 arrival record
- Employment Authorization Document (EAD) or I-797 approval notice
- SSN card or SSA denial letter
- Two proofs of Alaska residency (utility bill, bank statement)
Steps
- 1 Verify your immigration status qualifies for an Alaska license
- 2 Gather all required documents
- 3 Visit an Alaska DMV office
- 4 Complete the driver license application
- 5 Pass the written knowledge test (20 questions, need 16 correct)
- 6 Pass the vision test
- 7 Pay the $20 application fee
- 8 Schedule and pass the road test

- Alaska requires proof of lawful presence — an ITIN alone does not qualify you for a driver's license
- License duration is limited to the length of your authorized stay
