Arizona: ITIN Driver's License Guide
Requirements
- • Proof of lawful presence in the United States (ITIN alone is not sufficient)
- • SSN or proof of SSN ineligibility
- • Proof of Arizona residency
- • Proof of identity (one primary ID document)
Required Documents
- Valid passport with US visa, I-94, EAD, or DACA approval notice
- SSN card or SSA denial letter
- One proof of Arizona residency (utility bill, bank statement, mortgage statement)
- I-20, DS-2019, or I-797 (if applicable)
Steps
- 1 Verify your immigration status qualifies for an Arizona license
- 2 Gather all required documents
- 3 Visit an ADOT MVD office or authorized third-party provider
- 4 Complete the application form 40-5122
- 5 Pass the written test (30 questions, need 24 correct)
- 6 Pass the vision screening
- 7 Pay the $25 application fee
- 8 Schedule and pass the road test
Important Notes
- Arizona requires proof of authorized presence — an ITIN alone does not qualify you for a driver's license
- DACA recipients may obtain a limited-duration license with EAD and DACA approval
- Arizona licenses for non-citizens expire when immigration authorization expires
