Delaware: ITIN Driver's License Guide
Requirements
- • Valid ITIN (SSN not required for standard driving privilege card)
- • Proof of Delaware residency
- • Proof of identity and date of birth
Required Documents
- ITIN letter (CP565 or CP567)
- Foreign passport (valid or expired within 5 years)
- Two proofs of Delaware residency (utility bill, bank statement, lease)
- Foreign birth certificate or consular ID as secondary ID
Steps
- 1 Gather all required documents
- 2 Visit a Delaware DMV office
- 3 Complete the driving privilege card application
- 4 Pass the written knowledge test (30 questions, need 24 correct)
- 5 Pass the vision test
- 6 Pay the $40 application fee
- 7 Schedule and pass the road test
Important Notes
- Delaware issues a "Driving Privilege Card" for residents who cannot prove lawful presence — ITIN qualifies
- The Driving Privilege Card is valid for driving only and cannot be used as federal identification
