Hawaii: ITIN Driver's License Guide
Requirements
- • Valid ITIN (SSN not required for limited-purpose driver's license)
- • Proof of Hawaii residency
- • Proof of identity and date of birth
Required Documents
- ITIN letter (CP565 or CP567)
- Foreign passport (valid)
- Two proofs of Hawaii residency (utility bill, bank statement, lease)
- Foreign birth certificate or consular ID (as supporting document)
Steps
- 1 Gather all required documents
- 2 Visit a Hawaii county driver licensing office
- 3 Complete the driver license application
- 4 Pass the written knowledge test (30 questions, need 24 correct)
- 5 Pass the vision test
- 6 Pay the $40 application fee
- 7 Schedule and pass the road test
Important Notes
- Hawaii allows all residents to apply for a limited-purpose license regardless of immigration status
- The limited-purpose license is marked and cannot be used for federal identification purposes
