Missouri: ITIN Driver's License Guide
Requirements
- • Social Security Number required (ITIN not accepted)
- • Proof of lawful presence in the United States
- • Proof of Missouri residency
- • Proof of identity and date of birth
Required Documents
- SSN card or W-2 showing SSN (ITIN not accepted)
- Valid immigration documents (I-94, EAD, I-551, I-797)
- Proof of identity (passport, birth certificate, or consular ID)
- Proof of Missouri address (utility bill, bank statement)
Steps
- 1 Obtain an SSN — required for all Missouri license applicants
- 2 Gather all required documents
- 3 Visit a DOR (Department of Revenue) license office
- 4 Complete the application form DOR-4317
- 5 Pass the written knowledge test (25 questions, need 20 correct)
- 6 Pass the vision screening
- 7 Pay the $10 permit fee
- 8 Pass the road test and pay the $20 license fee
Important Notes
- Missouri requires proof of lawful presence — an ITIN alone is NOT sufficient
- Non-permanent residents receive a temporary license that expires with their immigration documents
