Oregon: ITIN Driver's License Guide
Requirements
- • Valid ITIN (SSN not required for standard license)
- • Proof of Oregon residency
- • Proof of identity and date of birth
Required Documents
- ITIN letter (CP565 or CP567) or tax return showing ITIN
- Valid or expired foreign passport
- Foreign birth certificate (with certified English translation if not in English)
- Two proofs of Oregon residency (utility bill, bank statement, rental agreement)
Steps
- 1 Gather all required documents including ITIN letter
- 2 Visit an Oregon DMV office (appointment recommended)
- 3 Complete the application form
- 4 Pass the written knowledge test (35 questions, need 28 correct)
- 5 Pass the vision screening
- 6 Pay the $54 Class C license fee
- 7 Practice driving with an instruction permit for at least 6 months
- 8 Schedule and pass the driving skills test ($9 fee)
Important Notes
- Oregon allows all residents to obtain a standard license regardless of immigration status (SB 833)
- The standard license is not REAL ID compliant and cannot be used for federal identification
- Written test is available in Spanish and other languages
