Utah: ITIN Driver's License Guide
Requirements
- • Valid ITIN (SSN not required for driving privilege card)
- • Proof of Utah residency
- • Proof of identity and date of birth
Required Documents
- ITIN letter (CP565 or CP567) or tax return with ITIN
- Valid foreign passport or consular ID (matricula consular)
- Two proofs of Utah residency (utility bill, bank statement, rental agreement)
- Foreign birth certificate with English translation if needed
Steps
- 1 Gather all required documents including ITIN letter
- 2 Visit a Utah DLD (Driver License Division) office
- 3 Complete the driving privilege card application
- 4 Pass the written knowledge test (25 questions, need 20 correct)
- 5 Pass the vision test
- 6 Pay the $52 driving privilege card fee
- 7 Practice with learner permit and complete required driving hours
- 8 Schedule and pass the driving skills test
Important Notes
- Utah issues a "Driving Privilege Card" (DPC) for residents without proof of lawful presence — ITIN accepted
- The DPC is valid for driving only and cannot be used as federal identification
- Written test is available in Spanish
